You want to stand out and look cool. And the best way to achieve this is to use hair highlights to cover up your natural hair colour. However, don't just go with any hair colour. You must select a hair colour that complements your skin tone. Melanin is the pigment that gives our hair, eyes, and skin their colour. It also determines how your skin's colour changes in different climates. Different skin tones are caused by variations in the amount of melanin in our bodies, as well as its distribution, shape, and size.

The most important factor to consider before colouring your hair is the colour of your skin. While the right hair colour can enhance your appearance, a bad combination of skin and hair colour can ruin your entire look and make you appear unnatural. That is why it is critical to select the appropriate colour because what looks good on Caucasian women may not look good on us.

Choosing a hair colour is never easy, whether you are an expert at home dyeing or this is your first time. Your choice will be heavily influenced by your natural skin tones and hair colour.

1. Use warm colours on warm skin tones.

As you may have read in "How to Choose the Right Shade of Brown," skin tone influences what hair colours will look best on you. Warmer hair colours, such as golden blonds or auburn browns, look great on people with pinky, red, yellow, or olive skin tones.

2. Use cool colours on cool skin tones.

Those with cooler or more "citrusy" skin tones with hints of blue should choose cooler hair colours. This means you can experiment with the most daring colours, such as a blue-based ash blond hair colour or a purple-tinged red hair dye.

3. Stay as close to nature as possible.

There are no two ways about it: when something appears natural, it appears better! A good rule of thumb is to stay within two shades of your natural hair dye, whether light or dark, because your hair colour usually matches your complexion. If you go too dark, your natural skin tone will most likely be washed out, and vice versa.

4. Small steps

Take your time if you want a dramatic colour change. If you want to go from dark to blond, start with a more neutral colour and work your way up to the real thing. Take extra care of your hair by feeding it nutrients and love with the Indus Valley coloured hair care range!

5. Combine and contrast!

Nowadays, you can use a plethora of different fancy dyeing tricks to blend different colours for a natural hair dye or edgy trendy look. For a stylish ombre look, try long dark roots with lighter tips.
